A few people have told me that when importing the BPS character rig, the scene crashes! Can anyone with this problem give me a bit more details. What operating system and Blender version are you using?
I am using the same version that you are 2.78 but when I click the button append from library the blender crashes if you get any solution tell me please
Yeah I'm also getting this issue... But it's not only with the character rig, it's doing it to me with the item and block rigs, basically everything that is a rig. For example, after extracting the "Cycle_Minecraft_Rig," I got a lot of things like "Minecraft_Blocks_Rig," "Minecraft_Character_Rig," "Minecraft_Item_Rig," and I tested them and they just crashed. However, when I load up one that doesn't end in "_Rig," like "New_3D," I was able to load it. Apparently, I think that the folders ending in "_Rig" might be the ones causing this issue. I'm also running blender 2.78... Let us know if you can figure out the issue!
It happened to me I figured out it was because I was on 32 bit when I should of been on 64 bit, I switched and now I'm not crashing.

what a legend you are. i spent all day yesterday learning some of these already but a lot of it i didnt know. like the blender settings and what not. but thanks for helping me get the items and rigs. that shaved a few weeks off me learning to make all this. the more i learn this and see how easy it is the less i get discouraged.

I'd like to say that personally, in most situations, instead of turning off restrict selection to visible, and boxing stuff, I like to go into edit mode, find the object I want to get rid of, and hover my mouse over a face, and press L. That selects all connected faces.

if your skin is black under the skin material go to view port display > settings > blend mode and set it to alpha clip

@@BjornUltimatum It does. Here's how you find it: 1) Select the mini-figure on the rig's shoulder. 2) On the side panel, go to material properties 3) Under the viewport display menu, you will find the blend mode setting 4) Change it to alpha clip

Guys, guys I figured it out! In 16:44 he shows the world background option, and to use it. However that option was removed in blender 2.8. So the option that replaced it was the scene world option. To get that option, you should click that arrow facing down that you see near the options to change the view from solid to material view etc. Then you will see 2 checkboxes, scene lights and scene world. You should check both the options and then you can see the background image or color you put.

Also a tip to all the viewers of this video and those who use Mcprep, if you press n and go to the Mcprep tab, then navigate to world tools you can find the "create mc sky" option that will create a Minecraft-like sky for you! I don't know if this option exists in older versions of Mcprep tho this tutorial is about 6 years old.
I think you need to remake this for 2.8

Absolutely amazing tutorial series, really well detailed and love how u cover everything multiple times. Absolutely enjoying it :)
Quick tip on how to get an item nicely into your character's hand! First, you want to have your character in the scene. I'm supposing you're using the one in this tutorial. Select the rig, and go into Pose Mode. Click on his arm IK bone (the sphere on the tip of his hand), press Shift + S, and select "Cursor to selected". Then just append your item (For example, a sword), press Shift + S again, Click "Selection to Cursor", and the sword will be in his hand! You may have to rotate it a little though. A better way to do this is just grab it and adjust it to his hand. Arbiter has a video on this on his own channel.
And after you do that if you want it to stay, you just hit shift on the bone then the object, click ctrl+P and hit bone relative.

@@aaravsingh3696 are you in object mode when selecting the leaves? And I suggest watching judothesurvivor tutorial, because this tutorial is in a older version. I personally haven't animated in about 6 months so can't remember alot of it without Going back and trying to animate again.
when I try to add a skin on to the rig it doesn't show where It says steve.png it just shows a bunch of stuff I'm in the materials tab idk pls help

Can you help me? The leaves and grasses on my map in blender are always completely filled with a texture, so the leaves look like solid blocks and the grasses look like two pieces of paper on which grass has been drawn.

@@dvanimationstudio I use 2.7... But either your previous answers have been deleted or I don't see them somehow...
To fix the "Active Layer" appending issue you'll have to use the Shift + F1 shortcut. Go into User Preferences > Input, and search for "append", expand the selection that comes up, scroll down and disable "Active Layer" (it looks greyed out, but you can click it). Save User Settings, if you wish. I may try to find a way to make this happen for the File menu method, but so far this is all I got!

No but im using blender 2.8, and learning from this at the same time - it just requries a some basic blender 2.8 tutorials & some googling because you might need to know where the features are that he is showing in the video

I've been trying to do an animation of my own, using the same rigs used in this video. Every time I append, either the blocks, or the character, it comes out white, without any texture. I've also tried on a different computer, and the whole program cashed. If you need more details, please let me know. Please let me know if you have any solutions. Thank you.
For some reason when I am navigating through the scene it will not let me look around so much, I cant get too the original platform
that has to do with the scrolling. I assume you are talking about middle click not working well? Use scroll to get to the center of wherever it sees as the center, then use shift + f to go where you want and create a new center.
Soon Blender 3.0 is coming and this tutorial is slowly becoming out of date. How about a new tutorial? Just by groundbreaking changes like Cycles X, which renders the scene 5 times faster? Would be really cool. Thank you!

If your having the problem that when you press append and Blender crashes, instead of appending it in to Blender, just drag and drop from the folder onto the stage.
for me than it just creates a whole new scene with only the rig in it
RaftGaming he means drag the Rig to blender. like where ever you kept your character rig just drag it to blender studio
Hi, whenever I get a block it appears completely grey with no texture. I tried downloading the Rymdnisse Block/Item Pack again, but got the same result. Help?
Same thing happened for me Just fixed it. Press T to make the left tab appear >> Click MCPrep >> Click Mineways >> Click Prep Materials >> Ok >> Click the circle in the right side of Object mode and change it into Material
you just have to look at the bottom. you should see a gray circle. click on it. once you click on that click on either textures or material. try to see if either of those textures are right on one or the other.

Hey so can MC-Prep recognize stairs? When I imported my world in all of the stairs, signs, and trapdoors turned into bed rock. I thought it was because I had not updated it, but I updated MC-Prep and upgraded to blender 2.8 1a. Do I have to delete the faces manually and add the correct blocks in myself, or did I make a mistake in mineways or something?

Here's a different problem I'm having, when I download rymdinesse and your rig and append (Which always crashes when I select all and append all), I go to my character and he doesn't have the little guy on his shoulder and the little knobs aren't where they are when you did it. If Black Plasma Studios or anybody else have a suggestion or solution, please reply. (Also Black Plasma Studios, I love your vids!)

@Black Plasma Studios How can I duplicate the character rig to have multiple characters. I cant just copy it with shift + d and i tried to make everything clickable and then copy everything but this still doesnt work. Would be great if you answer me, im trying to get this for days now and nothing worked yet, so how do you do this ?
What GPU(s)/computer are you using? I have watched all of your animation tutorials, and i appreciate that you took the time to make these videos. the computer i'm currently using, renders some of the frames in over a minute and a half, but most take about a minute, or a little over So for 2 min animations, i'm waiting DAYS, for the frames to finish rendering. i am thinking about building an animation/gaming computer and i was looking at some of Geforce's products. i was wondering if you had any recommendations on what GPUs to get. I'm not looking for some kind of crazy animation computer that Pixar might, use. Just something that renders frames a lot faster (similar to the speed of yours) Thanks.

Hit Ctrl + F12 if you're making a video, and simply hit F12 if you're making an image.
when I open the Block rig and item rig its fine but when i append it into my project it all white! yes i have materials selected!!! HELP!! the textures is gone!! and yes i have the textures in the same file as with the rigs

Great Video. Have a question though. Every time I append a new item or block. The graphics for that block doesn't automatically load. I have to click T underMCprep and click "prep materials" every time I bring something in. It there a way to automatically do this?

When I do anything the bones, the character doesn't move at all. I can't even move the whole character to a different place because when I try to do that, the bones seperate from the character and move without it, just like anything else I try to do with the bones. Can someone please help?

28:41 Oh God I'm so happy that this rig makes our skin's 2nd layer visible! When in other rigs, the 2nd layer isn't visible my skin looks trash but that is not the case in this rig! Thanks, BPS!

@@_Kinda when you are in the file explorer in Blender, you will see a panel called "IMPORT OBJ". In it, you will see where 'split by:" is written, object or group. Untick 'object' and tick 'group' it will work.

Hello, I am experiencing a problem that i can't solve... The problem is that every time I "Shift+F" inside my camera, my minecraft world disappears! Ask me if you need extra information! thanks!
go to view at the bottem of the screen change your shortcut for camrera to ctrl + z it wont delete and i just found out, hope it helps!
I cannot go into pose mode with my character. When I select it and click on Object Mode, Pose Mode and Edit Mode are both tinted gray and I cannot click on either one. Can someone please help me? (I am using Blender 2.79)

How to fix grass black texture error?
I used blender render cause it helped me to get normal grass.
Check if you have material on cause it switches to texture.
It may be time for a new tutorial series I think. It's been 3 years now and Blender has completely changed.
He still uses 2.79 so he can't exactly provide the same level of mastery.

hey everything is kinda going smooth for, with the exception that when i am in materials mode i get this white box around my grass, windows, torches, and and leaves until i render it. and in texture mode they are all like a cartoon or borderlands like the grass is solid and not see through also until i render the scene and idk how to fix it and im not new to blender i tried what i know but nothing worked for me can someone help please???

You need to setup a particle system with a force field to create this effect.

@@vipuljain4470 I found that if you go to the materials panel of your character, go down to "Settings", find "Blend Mode", and change that to "Alpha Clip" that solves the problem.

Hey Arbiter, Whenever I open a new scene and import obj file that is minecraft map, and when it loads it shows white like grass has colors but at the edge it shows white and similarly it does not show through the door or glass too. If the map is loaded good and it shows perfectly then whenever I introduced my character, the character came in white, also whenever I append any minecraft object it also come as white, help me please!!!
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, But when I use the rig in material mode, everything is black, but not in texture mode. And if I render the image, everything but the rig loads properly. The rig's textures become pink and I don't know how to solve this, please help! (Ps. I'm using Blender version 2.79)

Is there a download for the rig used in this tutorial? I cant seem to find it, only V2 and V2 doesnt work in 2.78, and my video card doesnt work in 2.79 so i had to come back to 2.78

by the way while you're in that camera mode, hold ALT to go extra slow!!! that's helpful if you're using smaller scale units

If you go to user preferences, and then go to input, you can emulate numberpad so that your regular keys can be numberpad keys
